Gary Martínez, RA

ARCHITECT | FOUNDER

Gary is a Licensed Architect engaged in new ventures & developments that bring innovative & efficient strategies to the Architecture + Design profession. 

As the founder of mrtnz, Gary continually promotes sustainable & environmental solutions while pursuing a unique outlook on building form & design functionality within the contemporary stage - locally, nationally & internationally.

His 15+ years of professional experience has contributed to various projects concerning sustainability, urban revitalization + infill, affordable housing solutions, & innovative product types. In his previous position as Project Architect with HHJA, Gary led a collaborative team to complete a 216 unit high density multi-family/mixed-use podium project in Milpitas, CA.  


Notable contributions & product types include:

- 27 unit apartment complex in Menlo Park, CA,

- 56 unit multi-family/mixed-use complex in Fremont, CA, 

- Office addition & full tenant improvements in Napa, CA.  

- 68 unit multi-family/mixed-use infill project in Denver, CO

- Walk up garden apartments in Vacaville, CA & Rohnert Park, CA totaling 400+ 

affordable & market rate living

- 12 story dual brand hotel in Downtown Denver, CO

- 151 key hotel located in the Denver International Airport Business Center - Denver, CO


Gary holds two degrees specializing in Architecture, Urban & Environmental Design. Receiving his Baccalaureate of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado - Boulder & his Master of Architecture & Urban Design from the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA). He is the recipient of the 2013 AIA Western Mountain Region Pettigrew Leadership Award.

Along with his academic and professional work, he has performed research projects within the professional and competition format. Using the latest technologies, today's leading fabrication techniques, materials and resources to explore individual and amalgamated designs to enhance the built environment.


Gary balances his passion for architecture & design by spending time with his wife 

& two pups.
